From the Desk of the Executive Director
The Multicultural Fiesta was a huge success with over 500 people attending. Thanks to all those who attended and those businesses that supported the Fiesta.
The Retail Committee of the Chamber of Commerce is a small but very dedicated group of individuals who have been working on the Winter Carnival Events on a regular basis. Their meeting date has been added to the Community Calendar and all are welcome to attend. We will have all of the events finalized by November 7, 2018. The Opportunities Magazine dates for the Winter Carnival Week are in error. The efficient staff putting together the magazine requested the information in July and we did not get an opportunity to review the information just prior to publication. The retail committee changed the weekend due to the number of conflicts at the end of November.
We are still seeing a number of fundraisers being scheduled for the same day and we are being contacted on a regular basis asking to check to see if there are any conflicts as groups plan for their fundraiser. A significant amount of work goes into the planning and working at events .The community calendar is your source of information in regard to activities taking place in the community. Please provide updates to the chamber when you schedule an event. As a community, let us work together to make all fundraisers successful by making sure that the events are listed on the community calendar.
The Collage Saint James renovation is just about completed. Stop in and support the Collage as construction and renovation always has an impact on retail traffic.
