About the project…
The St. James Watersports Project was spearheaded by community members Maggie Maire and Pete Eggen in collaboration with the City of St. James. Maggie and Pete approached the Park Board and received unanimous support with recommendation to City Council, who also passed the project idea unanimously.
The project was entirely paid for with funds raised by Maggie and Pete (no public dollars), that amounted to over $7,000.00. Site preparations were completed by the City of St. James Street Department.
With the funds we were able to purchase:
- 4 kayaks (1 tandem)
- 2 paddle boards
- Paddles
- Life Jackets
- Racks for storage (built by Parker Henderson as an Eagle Scout project)
What’s in store for the future?
- Fencing for security
- Canoe(s)
- Possibly a paddle boat
Thank you to everyone who made this project a possibility, including these sponsors:
